Last year in August, Realme launched its first “V” series smartphone in China named the Realme V5 5G and it launched as the cheapest 5G phone in China as the starting price was just 1,499 Yuan. Later, Realme launched the V3 5G and with a starting price of 999 Yuan, it dethroned the V5 5G to become the cheapest 5G phone in China. Well, today, Realme launched its third phone under the “V” series named Realme V15 5G. As the name suggests, this is more expensive than the V3 & the V5 and also more feature-packed. Some of the highlights of it include the Dimensity 800U 5G SOC, an AMOLED panel, 50W Fast charging, and more.
The starting price of this phone is 1,399 Yuan which translates to around $216.
Speaking of the design, Realme V15 has a design similar to the V5 5G since there is a similar hole-punch display on the front and a rectangular camera module on the rear. The V15 5G has a “Koi” color option with a unique gradient finish on the rear panel & also the huge “Dare to Leap” text. The phone is 8.3mm thick and weighs around 179g. The rectangular camera module has three cameras in it and the camera lenses are raised from the camera module so the overall design is similar to what we see on the Reno series phones from Oppo.
The USB Type-C port is placed on the bottom and there is no 3.5mm headphone jack on this phone.
Under the hood, the V15 5G has the MediaTek Dimensity 800U 5G SOC paired with 6/8GB LPDDR4X RAM and 128GB UFS 2.1 storage. There is a 4,310mAh battery and the phone supports 50W fast charging.
While the Realme V5 5G had a 90Hz LCD, Realme V15 5G has a 6.4-inch 60Hz AMOLED panel. Since it is an AMOLED panel, the fingerprint scanner is now placed under the display instead of on the side as on the V5 5G. Speaking of the triple camera setup, there is a primary 64 Megapixel camera paired with an 8 Megapixel ultrawide camera and a 2 Megapixel macro camera. The primary rear camera is capable of shooting 4K videos at 30fps. On the front, a 16 Megapixel selfie camera is placed on the top left of the screen in a circular cutout.
Finally, Realme UI runs out of the box which is based on Android 10 and the phone will get an OTA Update for Realme 2.0.
Here is the pricing for the Chinese market –
- 6GB RAM + 128GB ROM – 1,399 Yuan ($216)
- 8GB RAM + 128GB ROM – 1,999 Yuan ($310)
The phone will go on sale in China starting the 14th of January.
