The 90s X-Factor team and writer Peter David return in new X-Men Legends arc – Brutal Gamer

If you’re a fan of Marvel’s merry mutants as they were during the heyday of the 90s, then you likely want to check out the X-Men Legends series.

Like having a time machine

There’s a lot for X-fans to be happy about at present. Though it might not be for everyone (and that includes this writer), the mutant corner of the Marvel U in general is red hot right now. There’s a ton of momentum for the X-Men and all of the associated characters, as Marvel kicks it into high gear with eventual Marvel Cinematic Universe debut in the crosshairs.

But even if you’re not paying attention to all the Krakoa-adjacent action, there’s still an X-book for you. That, of course, is X-Men Legends. Legends, which I’m just going to assume picks up the name from the defunct video game series, isn’t about the present, but the past. And this is no alternate reality stuff either. The book is basically a retconning vehicle.

Take X-Men Legends #5, for example, which brings in X-Factor. Yes, that X-Factor. Even better – writer Peter David is back as well.

Mutants have taken hostages, and X-Factor is taking the blame! But before judgment is rendered for Polaris, Havok, Wolfsbane, Strong Guy, Quicksilver, and Multiple Man, Val Cooper and X-Factor will take the stand! But who’s telling the truth, and what really went down at the Latverian Embassy? It all makes sense…from a certain point of view.

“X-Factor are old friends of mine, and I was delighted when Marvel gave me the opportunity to revisit them,” David said. “I have to admit, I was a little concerned since so many years have passed. But the moment I started writing them it was like no time had gone by it all.”
